Registered Agents Inc is the largest registered agent and business formation provider in the United States, filing more new business entities than any other provider nationwide. Founded in 2008, RAI was built on a simple premise: that starting a business should be accessible, affordable, and straight forward. Nearly two decades later, that mission is reflected in the numbers. RAI operates in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., serving hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs every year.

We believe starting a business has the power to change lives, and the ripple effect of a single new business can transform entire communities. The data below reflects new business entity filings for Q1 of 2026. All information is sourced from public state records.

What This Data Means

A Shifting Competitive Landscape

The formation market has evolved significantly over the past decade. What the data reflects is a clear shift towards providers built around the entrepreneur: accessible pricing, simple processes, and real infrastructure that supports a business from formation through ongoing compliance. While brand awareness is often assumed to be an indicator of actual market performance, the filing data tells a more nuanced story.

Infrastructure at Scale

Registered Agents Inc maintains locally staffed offices in every state — a physical infrastructure footprint that emphasizes local expertise, real-time document processing and same-day forwarding. This on-the-ground presence is reflected directly in formation volume, and in the trust entrepreneurs place in a provider that is not just available online, but is physically present in their state.

Methodology

Filing data is sourced from Secretary of State (or equivalent) databases in each jurisdiction. Entity counts represent new formations where each company or brand is listed as the registered agent of record.

Entity Protect Registered Agent Services is a subsidiary of Tailor Brands. CT Corporation is a brand of Wolters Kluwer. “RAI” includes filings under the Registered Agents Inc brand and affiliated entities. All provider names reflect their registered agent designations as recorded by state agencies.
